Google Ads for Restaurants
Where to eat gets decided in minutes, near your restaurant, on a phone. The search is "birria near me" or "best tacos in" plus the city, the choice comes from the map, and the visit happens within the hour. Google Ads for restaurants works when it is built for that moment: local campaigns that put you on Maps and Search for people close enough to walk in, ad schedules that match your kitchen hours, and a separate campaign for catering, where one booking is worth far more than a single table.
We have run Google Ads for a San Diego restaurant since 2021. From Apr 14, 2021 to Sep 14, 2026 the account recorded 77.3K conversions from 140K clicks and 7.08M impressions, and its local campaigns have driven 10,800+ tracked store visits. Every number comes from the restaurant's own account, and the report is on the Mr. Birria case study with the cost figures covered. GreenFlow is a current Google Partner. If you want to know what the same setup would look like for your restaurant, start with a free Google Ads audit.

How we run it
What changes for restaurants
Local campaigns measured in store visits
Local campaigns show your restaurant on Maps, Search and YouTube to people within a set radius, with location assets, hours and a directions button. Store-visit tracking counts the people who saw the ad and then walked in, so the campaign gets judged by visits, not by clicks or impressions.
A separate campaign for catering and events
Catering searches are a different customer with a different value, so they get their own campaign, their own budget and a landing page built for the booking, not the menu. Event and food truck catering queries land on a page with a lead form, and each form is tracked as a conversion.
Menu and dish keywords
People search the dish before the restaurant: birria, tacos, consomme, the cuisine plus near me, best plus the dish plus the city. We build keyword themes around what you serve, write ads that name the dish, and send the click to a page that shows the food and the order button.
Meal-time scheduling and branded protection
Ads run when the kitchen does. We schedule bids around lunch and dinner, cut spend when you are closed, and shift budget to the days you want busier. A small branded campaign keeps competitors from showing above your own name when a customer searches for you by name.
What we are seeing in Google Ads this month
Updated
- Google changes how and when Local Services Ads charge for call leads on October 1, 2026. If you run LSAs, review your lead disputes before the switch.
- Mr. Birria's Google Ads account passed 77.3K conversions for the period Apr 14, 2021 to Sep 14, 2026. Local campaigns and catering lead forms carry most of it.
- Belcrete's contractor campaign converted 11.40% of clicks from Mar 21 to Jun 18, 2026, on job-value keywords with a tight negative list. Fewer clicks, better jobs.

FAQ
Google Ads for restaurants: questions we get
How much does Google Ads cost for a restaurant?
Our Google Ads management starts at $700 a month, month to month, with no setup fees. Ad spend is separate and paid to Google from your own billing. Restaurant campaigns can prove themselves on modest budgets because the audience is small by definition: people near you, during service hours. We size the budget to your seats, your delivery radius and whether catering is a goal, and the pricing page lists every plan.
Do Google Ads actually bring people into the restaurant?
They can, and you can count it. Local campaigns with store-visit tracking report the people who saw an ad and then showed up. Our Mr. Birria local campaigns have driven 10,800+ tracked store visits, and the same account counts 77.3K conversions from Apr 14, 2021 to Sep 14, 2026. The case study has the account report with the cost figures covered.
Can Google Ads get me catering bookings?
Yes, and it is often the most profitable part of the account. Catering and event searches get their own campaign, their own landing page with a lead form, and conversion tracking on every submission. That way the catering budget is judged on booked events, not on clicks, and the restaurant campaign is not diluted by a customer who is planning a wedding, not a lunch.
Should I run ads if my Google Business Profile is out of date?
Fix the profile first, or at the same time. Local campaigns use your Google Business Profile for the address, hours, photos and reviews that show next to the ad, so wrong hours or old photos waste every click. We check the profile in the audit, and our local SEO service keeps it current. A good profile also wins the searches that never click an ad.
What about online orders and delivery?
Ads can point at whatever you want the customer to do: directions, a call, an online order. On the Mr. Birria site the homepage lists dishes with prices and a DoorDash ordering link, so a search click can become an order in one tap. We track each of those actions separately, so you see which ads drive visits and which drive orders, and budget follows the one you care about.
What is the first step?
Request the free Google Ads audit. If you already run ads we review the account: targeting radius, schedules, tracking and search terms. If you do not, we look at your area and tell you what a local campaign would need. There is no obligation. If we work together it is month to month with no setup fees, run by a San Diego PPC agency, and you can book a call whenever you are ready.
